| How to create 3D Virtual Boxes and EBook Covers |
3D "Virtual Boxes" and "Virtual Covers"
Have you seen those cool 3D "virtual box" and "virtual cover" graphics than some people are using
to promote their E-Books and software? Great aren't they?
Here are just a few ideas for using cover and box graphics
(of course, you should always make sure that readers realize the the covers/boxes
are just graphics are intended to represent actual physical products):
- Use them to spruce up your own web site and help explain what you're offering.
- Incorporate them in your advertising: Create advertising materials that leap off the page.
- Place the graphic on the first/entry page within your finished E-Book
Obviously
it's up to you to decide if you need these 3D boxes/covers - but if think
you could do with a boost - then it's definitely worth
consideration.
There are several ways to get your hands on these graphics (customized to match your E-Book of course). This include:

If you are good at drawing, another idea would to make your own boxes/covers using your favorite graphics program.
Obviously you will need a good graphics program and some real skill at
computer graphics.
Drawing a good virtual box/cover from scratch can be very hard, so it might help to
have templates ("blank boxes/covers"), a toolkit, or at least a guide
written by somebody who is both experienced at, and good at, this type of
thing.

- Training on Creating 3D boxes and covers - If you want to become an artist
eBook & Software Cover Tutorial,
as the name suggests, is a tutorial which is just about creating E-Book covers. In order to use this particular
tutorial you will need to download a copy of Compact Draw (they offer a 30
day Free Trial so you have enough time to create plenty of covers). Take

- Pay somebody else to create the boxes and covers - If you want somebody else to do the work
Another idea is to pay somebody else (who is good at graphics) to create the eBook cover for you.
The upside is that you just pay, and then wait until your graphic is delivered.
The downsides are that you may not get what you want, you have to wait, and most importantly,
if you have multiple eBooks, you'll need to pay for a cover for each (could get expensive!).
There are two choices if you want to go this route:
- You can pay a professional graphics designer:
expect to pay a few hundred dollars - yes this
is expensive - but you can talk to the person
in-depth (interview them) and see their portfolio
and references being giving them the job.
- You can use the
E-Book Cover Art
online service. The samples are truly stunning,
(plus the price is reasonable) and their graphics are guaranteed to impress your
customers and prospects.

Finally, one more cover design service that I recently discovered is
KillerCover.
